From ore to pig iron and from pig iron to steel and then steel is still not steel. In the production of steel there are different processes which lead to the fact that different types of steel can and must be distinguished with regard to their physical, chemical and mechanical properties. Quality controls, before and after the production process, as well as maintenance and repair work have to be carried out and possible disturbances in the production process have to be detected and eliminated.
